The Six Bonds

every connection has a shape — here is yours, in full

Once you know which bond you share, this is the long version: what it asks of each of you, who gives and who takes, how nearness changes everything, and how to hold it well. Each bond is a script and a set of roles. The rest of the story is yours to write.

Rain Bond Storm Bond Spark Bond Wind Bond Eclipse Bond Mirror Bond
01
Rain Bond
荣亲 · Radiant Rain · Deep Loam

The most nourishing bond there is. You feel, instinctively, like family — safe, accepted, allowed to simply exist near each other without performing. Where other bonds run on friction or fascination, this one runs on warmth.

The soul layer

At soul level, this is the bond of givers. Both of you are wired to pour into the other — Rain bonds are famously the most generous of all. There is real care here, not transaction. The danger is quiet: one of you may end up endlessly nourishing while the other is endlessly soothed, and the one who keeps giving rarely notices until they are empty.

The Giver · Radiant Rain

The Giver (荣 · Radiant Rain) is the one who makes the other better. You uplift, you encourage, you hold space. You are generous to a fault and your love feels like sunshine after rain. But you give from a deep well and assume it is bottomless. Watch for the day you look up and realize you have been the source, never the recipient.

The Taker · Deep Loam

The Taker (亲 · Deep Loam) is the one who can be close. You receive, you soften, you let yourself be cared for. You draw the Giver in and make intimacy feel effortless. Your magnetism is higher — you are easy to love. But ease can tip into taking the nourishment for granted.

Near Veil

Almost like blood kin. You finish each other's sentences and recognize each other instantly. The closeness is total; so is the capacity to magnify each other's flaws when things sour.

Mid Haze

The deepest, longest tangle. Evenly matched, neither willing to fully yield. Outsiders see equals; inside, a quiet contest of who cares more.

Far Drift

Softened by distance, the strongest soul-resonance of the three. Different worlds, yet a sense of being profoundly understood.

How to hold it

Treat this as a bond to live and grow inside, not to test. Keep score of nothing, but notice who refills the well. Many of history's great partnerships and first marriages were Rain bonds — it is the soil that real life is built on.

In a past life: kin, or someone cherished — a member of the same circle, bound by belonging.
02
Storm Bond
安坏 · Calming Mist · Wild Thunder

The most intense, scorching bond of all. Love here is high-concentration pain — it wants thunder, not a slow simmer. A great Storm bond is the stuff of obsession, devotion, ruin and rebirth. It is the bond people never forget.

The soul layer

At the core this is master and servant, attraction and destruction entwined. One holds power, one yields or fights back. It is possessive, electric, all-consuming. The paradox: it looks like Thunder is in charge, but it is Mist who quietly controls the direction. When two people properly separate from a Storm bond, the Mist often walks away transformed and untouchable.

The Giver · Calming Mist

The Giver (安 · Calming Mist) is the one who absorbs and contains. You endure, you forgive, you hold the storm. From the outside you look like the weaker one — but you set the true direction, and you decide whether it lives or dies. Your test is your own tolerance for pain: if Thunder ignores you long enough, you will leave, and once trust breaks you do not return.

The Taker · Wild Thunder

The Taker (坏 · Wild Thunder) is the one who reshapes and destroys to remake. You lead the relationship's fate, you are favored, you are the one who pulls. Your magnetism is intoxicating. But you are also the one who, after the fire, lies awake remembering — the Taker is most likely to long for what's lost.

Near Veil

Fiercest pull, instant recognition, extreme highs and lows. Heaven when good, unbearable when bad.

Mid Haze

The most torturous. Severe clashes of values; neither will submit. The cruelest of the distances.

Far Drift

Large gaps in status, wealth or background, yet a feeling of being deeply understood. Prone to forbidden love. Survives only if both will compromise against real-world odds.

How to hold it

This bond demands a strong constitution — the physically or emotionally fragile can be hollowed out by it. Arguing can actually strengthen it; cold abandonment kills it. Know that growing out of a Storm bond is not failure — it is often the sign you have leveled up.

In a past life: lovers, master and disciple — bound by fascination, betrayal, devotion.
03
Spark Bond
危成 · Rising Spark · Static Haze

An attraction wired through ambition and reality. Dazzling, heady, gilded — the most romantic and the most worldly bond at once. You lift each other toward what you want, with a shadow of distrust running underneath.

The soul layer

At the core this is rescuer and rescued, allies in the world. It needs a real-world foundation to thrive — not because it is mercenary, but because this bond expresses itself through building things together. Spark love wants elevation: status, work, money, momentum. Strong on chemistry, thin on trust.

The Giver · Rising Spark

The Giver (成 · Rising Spark) is the one who lifts and creates opportunity. You actively support, you open doors, you build. You are the steadying force that turns potential into results. Your risk: doing all the lifting while watching for whether it's returned.

The Taker · Static Haze

The Taker (危 · Static Haze) is sensitive, suspicious, the one who can manufacture obstacles. You are easily smitten — Static falls for Spark fast and hard, often at first sight. You bring the romance and the spark of desire. But your guardedness can introduce friction that wasn't there.

Near Veil

Instant dazzling pull, strongest chemistry. Romance arrives fast and burns bright.

Mid Haze

Evenly matched, the most enduring tangle of the Spark distances. Push and watch in equal measure.

Far Drift

The heaviest rose-tint, deepest projection and resonance. You see an ideal in each other across the gap.

How to hold it

Don't fight — Spark bonds fray under conflict and thrive on slow, steady building. Encourage rather than pressure. With a real foundation under it, this is the bond that builds empires together; without one, it stays a beautiful, restless spark.

In a past life: allies and collaborators, bound by mutual aid in worldly matters.
04
Wind Bond
友衰 · Soft Zephyr · Dry Gust

A light, effortless kinship of two who are alike and in-sync. Shared humor, easy company, breathing-room intimacy. The most fun, the least heavy — and the most likely to simply drift apart.

The soul layer

At soul level you mirror each other's spirit and tastes. Built first on admiration and resonance — the Gust genuinely sees the Zephyr's own light, not just their usefulness. But neither carries much responsibility for the other; there is even a faint competitiveness, a subtle one-upmanship under the ease.

The Giver · Soft Zephyr

The Giver (友 · Soft Zephyr) is the companion who keeps it light and free. You bring play, freedom, low pressure. You are admired for who you are, not what you provide. Your risk: you say your piece from your own corner and can turn suddenly serious or cold, leaving the Gust confused about what shifted.

The Taker · Dry Gust

The Taker (衰 · Dry Gust) is the one who can quietly drain. You start by admiring the Zephyr's shine. But day to day you can sap their energy without meaning to, and the easy bond can wither if neither tends it.

Near Veil

Instant kinship, the most fun, the most alike. Easy to start, easy to scatter.

Mid Haze

Evenly matched friends who secretly compete. Can endure surprisingly long if anchored by something shared — a child, a pet, a project.

Far Drift

Admiration across distance, the lightest touch. Resonant but rarely binding.

How to hold it

A wonderful first love — light enough to leave no scars. Best used to learn and play together rather than to lean on. If you want it to last, give it an anchor: a shared pursuit, a third thing you both tend.

In a past life: friends and playmates, sharing the same delights.
05
Eclipse Bond
业胎 · Buried Ember · First Dew

The heaviest soul-tie of all. Debt and nourishment, fate and symbiosis, woven so tight it can last a lifetime. It aches at the level of existence itself — and its power to wake you up is the greatest of any bond. No near or far: Eclipse simply binds.

The soul layer

This is the bond of two who, in another life, died together or were buried in the same ground. The attachment is bone-deep; the sunk cost is enormous. Neither can quite let go. It is symbiotic rather than transactional — nothing is exactly owed, yet nothing comes undone.

The Giver · Buried Ember

The Giver (业 · Buried Ember) carries the unfinished vow. You shoulder the karmic weight, you give quietly and endure. You are the one who keeps the fire banked through everything. Good for building a life or a venture together — many Eclipse pairs make formidable partners in work as well as love.

The Taker · First Dew

The Taker (胎 · First Dew) is newly born into the bond, leaning and drawing protection. You take instinctively, you depend, you seek the Ember's particular devotion. You tend to have a clearer, more reconciled sense of self than the Ember — you make peace more easily.

How to hold it

Eclipse asks for acceptance more than effort — seek common ground, hold the differences. It is intensely consuming; the long-entangled can lose themselves or even their health if they go too deep too long. Used well, it is the bond that transforms you. Used blindly, it is the one you cannot escape.

In a past life: bound through life and death — you died together, or were laid to rest in the same place.
06
Mirror Bond
命之星 · Twin Lumina

Two halves of one soul. You are so alike that you see your own strengths and flaws reflected back. The most in-sync, the most resonant — a bond that grows by looking into itself. No giver, no taker; no near or far. Pure mirror.

The soul layer

There is no debt here, nothing owed in either direction. You are equals who recognize each other as a version of the self. Where there is an age gap, the elder tends to be unusually accepting — not correcting or steering the younger, because they recognize their own path being walked again.

Both · Twin Lumina

There is no Giver and no Taker. Both are Twin Lumina — equal lights. The dynamic between you is colored instead by your Surface (daily) stars: that's where any difference in temperament shows up. This is the only bond with no asymmetry at its core.

How to hold it

Best used for looking inward. A Mirror bond is a chance to study yourself through another — to mutually witness, encourage and grow. It can be the most peaceful bond of all, or the most uncanny, because every flaw you see in them is also a flaw in you.

In a past life: the very same person — born again and again into similar worlds, carrying the same hopes.
